What's happening?
Council is implementing the short term recommendations of the Hornsby Rural Lands Study 2022. As part of this process, new planning controls for “agritourism” developments on commercial farms have been added to the Hornsby Development Control Plan 2013. These controls would apply when an applicant submits a development application for a new agritourism busniess.
The new agritourism development controls
The changes to the Hornsby DCP include:
- A new Part 2.2.10 of the Hornsby DCP that contains development controls for agritourism land uses, including farm gate premises and farm experience premises
- Amended development controls for farm stay accommodation in response to the new ways in which this land use can be undertaken
- New controls for agritourism signage and parking requirements
- Controls that seek to protect rural amenity and ensure that the agritourism land uses would not impact on primary production operations.
The updated development controls are now live on Council's website. You can access a copy of the updated Hornsby DCP in the useful links section on the right hand side of this page.
