What's happening?
To assist the transition to electric vehicles in the Hornsby Council Local Government Area, JOLT is proposing to install a fast, free public electric vehicle (EV) charger at 11-37 Alexandria Parade, Waitara.
Accelerating the uptake of electric vehicles is a key solution to reducing carbon emissions and combating climate change. By providing reliable and efficient EV charging infrastructure, we contribute to the transition towards a cleaner and greener transportation system. Electric vehicle charging points have also proven to boost surrounding commercial activity by providing a complementary use to surrounding businesses.
It is proposed to convert one existing car parking bay on Alexandria Parade to “No Parking: Electric Vehicle Excepted Only While Charging” (RMS Sign no. R5-41-5).
The charging podium unit looks different to the existing JOLT charger at Beecroft but it would have the same charge speed and functionality of the infrastructure, including:
- approximately 50km of free, fast charging (7kWh) per person per day, with additional charging costing $0.46 per kWh
- 25kW DC fast charging
- powered by 100% green energy
- CCS2 and CHAdeMO plug types (compatible with all Australian EV models)
- installed and maintained by JOLT, at no cost to Hornsby Council or ratepayers.
