What's Happening

Hornsby Shire Council would like your feedback on the proposed upgrade to the bushwalking tracks from:

  • Rannoch Place, Normanhurst to Pine Street, Thornleigh
  • Alinta Close and Butterfield Street, Thornleigh

These upgrades are part of the 2025/26 Capital Works Program and are being delivered as part of Council's Walking and Cycling strategy.

The proposed upgrades include:

  • Remove vegetation to create a suitable path.
  • Build steps on both sides of the creek following the natural landscape.
  • Create pathways that link to the new steps.
  • Connect local tracks to Alinta Close and Butterfield Drive, Thornleigh.
  • Improve creek crossings with sandstone steppers.
  • Installing new signs to improve navigation.

The materials proposed for these upgrades may include sandstone steps, sandstone boulders, hardwood timber sleepers, and FRP. These elements will not only improve the functionality of the tracks but also blend with the natural environment.

Once comments are received from the community, final design and construction will proceed.
