What's Happening?
Council is proposing a pedestrian island at the intersection of Treetops Road and County Drive to improve safety. The island will help people cross Treetops Road in two stages and improve the visibility of the “Stop” signs for drivers.
Key features of the proposal are:
• Construction of a new pedestrian Island on Treetops Road, near the intersection with County Drive, to provide a safer crossing point for pedestrians.
• Installation of new signage and line marking, including “Keep Left” warning signs and updated pavement markings, to guide both drivers and pedestrians.
• Removal of redundant line marking and installation of new thermoplastic line marking to improve visibility and traffic guidance.
• Construction of new kerb ramps, and removal of existing outdated ramps, to improve accessibility for all pedestrians, including prams and mobility devices.
• Minor kerb and gutter works to tie the new Pedestrian Crosssing Island and ramps into the existing road and footpath network.
• Adjustment and relocation of existing signs, including the existing “Stop” sign, to ensure compliance with current safety standards and to suit the new layout.
Why?
To improve road safety at the intersection of Treetops Road and County Drive.
