UPDATED - Proposed Parking Restrictions
Council recently sought feedback from the community regarding the introduction of timed parking and road safety signage on Brooklyn Road and Bridge Street Brooklyn. This initial consultation process has now been withdrawn and Council has updated the proposal to more accurately reflect the request received from the Brooklyn Community Association (BCA) with agreement from the Dangar Island League (DIL).
Background
In July 2024, Council met with representatives of Brooklyn Community Association (BCA) and Dangar Island League (DIL), to discuss potential changes to parking restrictions in Brooklyn. The BCA requested that the existing accessible parking space located on the northern side of Brooklyn Road be time restricted and for the provision of two ‘1/4P’ parking spaces in the village centre to encourage parking turnover for short term trips and facilitate access to shops and services.
The Proposal
Council has considered this request and is proposing to make the following changes to parking regulations in Brooklyn Road and Bridge Street:
- Change existing accessible parking space on Brooklyn Road outside the community centre to ‘4P accessible parking space’.
- Remove two ‘4P’ parking spaces on the eastern side of Bridge Street adjacent to the existing mail zone. Replace with two ‘1/4P’ parking spaces at this location.
- Extend existing ‘4P’ parking zone on the eastern side of Bridge Street up to the property boundary of No.9 Bridge Street.
A concept plan of the proposed changes is available in the document library.
Council invites your comments on the proposal by close of business Monday, 30 September 2024. The results of the consultation will be referred to the Hornsby Local Traffic Committee for consideration and recommendation to Council.
