Emergency ready kits being distributed

Emergency ready kits are being distributed to people living in and around Wisemans Ferry. These kits were identified by the Wisemans Ferry Community Resilience Project Working Group as an action to help build resilience and awareness in this community.

Funded by the Local Government Recovery Funding for NSW Severe Weather and Flooding (AGRN 1025), the emergency ready kit includes:

  • An emergency document holder (a waterproof envelope with a handy checklist printed on the outside)
  • Important phone numbers fridge magnet
  • Solar crank radio, flashlight and power bank
  • Emergency information and natural hazards flyers

Distribution started in partnership with Peppercorn Services who held a pop up for International Men’s Day on 19 November at Wisemans Ferry Central Complex. Following-on from this Council distributed 250 kits to local groups, businesses and individuals on Thursday 5 December, including:

  • Playgroup at Wisemans Ferry Community Centre
  • Wisemans Ferry Public School
  • Wisemans Ferry Pharmacy
  • Wisemans Ferry Grocer
  • Wisemans Ferry Community Mens Shed
  • Wisemans Ferry Bowling Club
  • Caltex Petrol Station, Wisemans Ferry
  • Wisemans Ferry Inn
  • Wisemans Ferry and Webbs Creek car ferry users
