Playground Upgrade will begin on 3rd February 2025
The new playground includes:
- Demolition of existing playground
- New playground to be constructed underneath existing trees for shade
- New circuit path
- New seats and refurbishment of existing shelter
- New tree planting
- Fence extension
Works are expected to be complete by April 2025 weather permitting.
The Proposal
Council has prepared a draft Landscape Plan for Norman Avenue Park, Thornleigh, to set a vision for upcoming capital works upgrades.
The draft Landscape Plan proposes the following items:
- Relocation of playground to towards the southern end of the park to provide shade from existing trees and open up the lawn area for informal passive recreation
- A local scale playground with a large climbing unit, two swings, a 4-way rocker and nature play
- Seating opportunities including refurbishing the existing picnic setting and shelter and installing new seats with backrests and sandstone seating logs.
- Refurbishment to the existing bubbler
- New concrete circuit path and upgraded entrance
- Fence extension at the northern and southern ends of the park
- New park sign
- Tree planting for shade
Staged works may be necessary subject to funding availability.
