What's Happening

Council is undertaking a Comprehensive Heritage Study, which is comprised of several projects to improve how heritage within Hornsby Shire is managed. This includes updates and revisions to heritage controls in Hornsby Development Control Plan (DCP) 2024.

The updates to the heritage controls propose to include:

  • A New Structure: Make it easier to find and understand controls
  • Revised Language and Expression: Make it clear and simple for all users
  • Updated Heritage Controls: Align with best heritage management practice
  • Renewed Graphics and Images: Clearly demonstrate objectives
  • Supporting Information: Clarify submission and approval requirements
  • Heritage Conservation Areas: Define desired outcomes to guide area-specific controls
  • Relocate Non-heritage Controls: Move to relevant sections of the Hornsby DCP

We would like your feedback on the proposed amendments, available below.

The full redrafted Part 9 Heritage is available, with proposed changes to Part 3 and Part 4 highlighted for convenience.
