Council has prepared a draft Landscape Masterplan for Berry Park, Mt Colah to set a vision for upcoming capital works upgrades. The Landscape Masterplan will be staged subject to funding.

Berry Park currently features one junior soccer field and two mini soccer fields in winter and a junior cricket oval with a synthetic pitch in summer.

Berry Park is bounded by native vegetation which will be retained, with some areas used for nature based play. The site is in close proximity to Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.

The draft Landscape Masterplan proposes the following items:

  • A two metre wide concrete pedestrian circuit path. Where field runout zones overlap the circuit path, the walking surface will transition to synthetic turf.
  • A local scale playground with a large climbing unit, three-way swings – an all abilities seat, sling seat and basket swing.
  • Seating opportunities including a picnic setting, seats with backrests and sandstone seating logs.
  • Exercise stations with equipment selected to improve leg and arm strength.
  • A nature play trail extending into the border vegetation with opportunities for balancing, climbing and imaginative play.
  • Widened and formalised driveway access.
  • Potential relocation of the accessible parking bay to achieve a flatter transition into the park.
  • Additional tree plantings for shade and screening

Items to be delivered in stage 1 include the local playground and nature play area and adjacent pathway network.

The exercise stations and the remainder of the circuit path to the south of the site will be delivered at a later stage.
