What's Happening?
Council is kicking off plans to give the amenity building at Asquith Oval a well deserved make over - because everyone deserves a clean, safe, and accessible place to go when they’ve gotta go!
The aim is to
- improve accessibility and inclusion.
- safety.
- support hygiene in Council’s public amenities.
The proposed upgrades include:
🛠️ Makeover time! Our trusty changeroom is getting a glow-up. Same space, brand new feel. Public toilets are moving to their own separate building.
🚻 New loo lineup! A new toilet building featuring two accessible cubicles and four unisex cubicles, including two ambulant options.
🧑🔧Room for the crew! Construction of a new groundsman room and a new referee room within the same building as the toilets.
🏠Storage sorted! A brand-new shed will be installed at oval level in the northwest corner of the site.
🚺 Change with confidence! Our changerooms are getting a glow-up — bigger, more private, and designed to be more female-friendly with an extended layout for added comfort!
🛣️ Smooth moves! New footpaths and ramps will improve access to the amenity building for everyone.
🌼 Fresh and green! A new garden bed, lush lawn, and landscaping will add the finishing touches.
Draft Landscape Plan
Why?
The works been identified for renewal under Council’s Special Rate Variation (SRV) program.
The building currently has no accessible entry due to level changes. The change rooms also lack privacy, with open showers and no screens at the entrances.
The proposed upgrade will address these issues by incorporating a more inclusive and women-friendly design for the change rooms, improving accessibility throughout the facility, and providing more effective storage solutions for both Council and local sports clubs.
When?
The upgrade is scheduled for the first half of 2026.
