What's Happening?

Council is proposing to expand the existing off-leash dog park at Asquith Park, Asquith to help ease the strain on the current space, which is getting plenty of paw traffic.

The upgrade aims to give dogs and their owners more room to play, relax, and enjoy the park safely.

The proposed upgrades include:

🐕‍🦺 Expansion of the dog park eastward to create a separate area specifically for small dogs.

🪑💦Adding new seating and drinking fountains with dog bowls – for both two-legged and four-legged visitors

🚶‍♂️🐾Construction a concrete path connecting the entry of the park with the new entry to the small dog space.

🌳🌱Planting of trees to provide shade, along with lawn as needed.

🍂🐾 Applying mulch to areas within the existing large dog park where the lawn has deteriorated.

🛠️👣 Rebuild existing concrete footpath in large dog park to avoid tree roots and provide a smooth transition to bench.

🌳🔄 Relocate an existing Bodhi tree to the east of the second existing Bodhi tree.

Why?

Council is proposing to expand the off-leash dog park in response to growing demand for more space.

The current dog park is well-loved and heavily used, and there's a great opportunity to extend it eastward into the open lawn area. This expansion would create a dedicated space for small dogs, puppies, and older dogs—giving them a safer spot to play away from more energetic large dogs.

Once complete, the new small dog area will help ease overcrowding and make the park more enjoyable for dogs of all sizes.

When?

Works are expected to commence in early - mid 2026 and take approximately 12 weeks to complete. During this time use of the existing off leash area will be largely unaffected.
